How to Clean Eyeglasses

A simple, coating-safe cleaning routine for everyday lenses.

    Wash your hands

    Remove oils and lotion that would transfer to the lenses.

    Rinse

    Rinse the glasses under lukewarm (not hot) water to wash away dust that could scratch.

    Clean

    Apply a drop of lotion-free dish soap or a lens cleaner and rub gently with your fingertips.

    Rinse again

    Rinse thoroughly so no soap film remains.

    Dry

    Shake off water and dry with a clean, lint-free microfibre cloth.

Avoid

  • Household glass cleaners, vinegar and ammonia — they can damage coatings.
  • Paper towels and tissues, which can be abrasive.
  • Your shirt or tie.
