Woman wearing glasses

Colour is the fastest way to change the personality of a frame. A few simple ideas can help you narrow the options.

Start with undertone

  • Warm undertones (golden, peachy) often suit tortoise, honey, olive, gold and warm reds.
  • Cool undertones (pink, blue) often suit black, gray, silver, navy, plum and crystal.
  • Neutral undertones can wear most colours — try contrast or a bold accent.

Consider contrast

High contrast (dark frames on fair skin) makes a statement. Low contrast (translucent or soft tones) feels quieter and lighter.

Everyday versatility

If this will be your only pair, black, tortoise and crystal pair easily with most outfits. If you own several, a second pair is a good place to experiment.
