A square face has a strong jaw, a broad forehead and similar width and length. Curved frames soften angles and balance a defined jawline.
How to tell if you have a square face
- Pull your hair back and stand facing a mirror in good light.
- Trace the outline of your face on the mirror with a washable marker, or take a straight-on photo.
- Compare the width of your forehead, cheekbones and jaw, and the overall length of your face.
Frame shapes to try
Round frames
Curves offset a strong jaw.
Oval frames
A softer alternative that still looks polished.
Cat-eye frames
Lifts the eye line away from the jaw.
Approach with care
Sharply angular frames can exaggerate the jaw, especially if they are narrower than the face.
Face shape is a starting point, not a rule. Fit, colour and personal style matter just as much — if you love a frame, try it with our Virtual Try-On.
Fit still comes first
Whatever the shape, the frame should be roughly as wide as your face, your eyes should sit near the centre of each lens, and the temples should rest on your ears without pinching. See our frame measurement guide for numbers to compare.
